In January, Overlooked Productions was commissioned to shoot the bulk of production on a music video for Warner Music Spain's rock group Despistaos for their rock ballad entitled Kansas City. The song's title comes from a very well known avenue in Seville, Spain, (Kansas City's sister city), called "Kansas City." Despistaos' Lead Vocalist, Dani Marco reached out to Chris Knitter, owner of Overlooked Productions, about casting two actors to play out the aftermath of a one-night-stand, but instead of taking the video to the streets of Spain, the band decided have the video entirely set in the actual Kansas City! So the city would play a role in the story as well. Instantly upon receiving the initial e-mail from Dani about the project, Chris jumped on board as Producer & Director of Photography for Kansas City.
Carman Stalker of WearHaus & FACTION was selected by Overlooked Productions as Director and Wardrobe Stylist for the project. Carman also worked with Chris and Overlooked on other music video projects in the past. Carman is widely known in the Kansas City Fashion Industry and was instrumental in the process of selecting our actors Ryan White & Jill Becker, as well as assisting with production schedules and budgets along with Chris.
Other Kansas City artists that were brought to the table were Jordon Rioux of PixlFire, (camera & lights) Drew Sjerven of Revolution Artistry, (make-up artistry), Amber Christman of Dizzy Dames Hair Salon, (hair stylist), Whitney Larsen of Larsen Nerd Lab, (production assistant), and Chris' brother Ryan Knitter also from Overlooked Productions, (production assistant).
Special thank you to the Kansas City Crossroads Arts District for playing the bulk of the role of "Kansas City," and also thank you to the House Media Collective, Westport, and the Country Club Plaza, which in it's inception, was originally designed architecturally after our sister city Seville, Spain, in 1922.
